Transforming lives on four continents

A bridge too far?

Reflecting about freedom in Christ on the China/North Korea border

BMS General Director David Kerrigan recently visited north east China, and was able to visit one of the world’s most secretive border crossings – the bridge that connects the country with North Korea.

People attempting to escape across the river can be shot on sight by the North Korean military.

As David said after his visit: "If there is a nation on the face of the earth that cries out for the freedom that Christ alone can deliver, it’s North Korea."

As we at BMS begin to think through how we together as Baptists can be part of that, please pray with us, remembering the bridge that for so many is an uncrossable obstacle to freedom.

Read more about David's reflection on his visit to the border, and the symbolic significance of bridges for Christian mission, in his column in the current issue of engage magazine.
