Bob & Charmaine Trendell’s Easter Update
As we celebrate another Easter we join you in giving thanks for the amazing truth and hope that we have through Jesus’ resurrection and we wish you a real sense of the Lord’s peace and purpose for you and all whom you love. Although things do not always go as we would choose, the Lord promises to be close with us throughout, “working all things for the good for those who trust in Him!”
On Friday, 15th April, we completed our seven months of training at the BMS International Mission Centre in Birmingham. Despite the fact that we were the two oldest students by some way, the Lord has walked with us, encouraged and equipped us and helped us complete the training successfully. We have not only learnt a good deal about mission and biblical studies and kept up with the assignments but also gained so much from the love and support of our wonderful tutors and fellow students who coped with us oldies with great generosity of spirit and patience! We so enjoyed being students again – the studies, the fun and fellowship have been such a blessing to us. Now that our training is over we shall be returning to our home in Devon – which is yet to be sold, however we still need to pack it up and then decide whether to keep it on the market or put it up for rent before we go to Thailand. We would value your prayers about what is best to do.
On Saturday 30th, April at the Baptist Assembly in Blackpool, we will be officially commissioned to go overseas and serve with BMS Worldwide Mission. We are so fortunate that many of our family are planning to be there to share this special occasion with us .We wonder whether any of you will be there – we shall be on the BMS stand on Saturday afternoon 3.15–3.45 we would love to see you if you are.
Following this we look forward to going with Charmaine’s sister and brother-in-law to visit their brother and family in Calgary, Canada. This will probably be our last opportunity for a family get-together for several years and it will be a precious family time.
On our return, Bob has a training day in London , on Thursday, May 26th, to prepare for assisting our partners in Financial Management systems , Charmaine is very glad that this is not her area of expertise!
Our date for going overseas has had to be delayed as Charmaine needs a further knee Op to replace her left knee-cap which is disintegrating – this will be the third op on the same knee, the knee cap was not replaced when she had a second knee replacement last July! We have to trust that the Lord’s has all of this in His loving hands. We would value your prayers that the Op will go ahead as planned on Saturday, June 4th, in Exeter and that Charmaine will recover well and that after physio she will be more mobile and pain free. Her ambition is to be able to get down on the ground and be able to play with the children she’ll be working with! We hope to be ready to travel out to Thailand in mid-August. This would give us a few weeks to settle into our new home in Mae Sot on the Thai-Burma border before doing Compasio’s induction and language training courses from September to November.
We are learning to be patient and flexible and to leave all details to the Lord and His ultimate wisdom for our best interests. We will endeavour to keep you updated whenever we have significant news or prayer requests.
Thank you so much for your care and concern for us, we so value your support and prayers. God bless you all.

Hi Bob
I am just so impressed at what you are doing. I'm subscribing to your newsfeed and will be praying for you both. We already pray for Dr Sasa one of Tearfund's Inspired People who works in NE Burma/India border area. I'm still in contact with Premilla in Kolkata and met up with her the last time she was in UK. God bless. Richard
